friends & food

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I love that Chloe plays so well with other kids. We went to Sun & Ed’s for a BBQ this afternoon. Whenever they throw a party, we know it’s going to be quality food and wonderful time with friends. Now that Chloe’s a little older, she’s been having fun playing with Sydney and Ava. They were running around, screaming and laughing, forgetting to eat dinner.

Chloe and I painted dry pasta (tubular)  and made into a necklace. Voilá~

dinner and a movie (well, a half movie)

Friday, June 26th, 2009

It’s just the girls tonight! I took Chloe to go see her first movie, Up! First we grabbed dinner at California Pizza then we headed to AMC Movie theatre. This is the part I love about living in burb. Everything is inside a mall. Chloe was so excited about going to see a movie (without fully understanding what kind of experience she’ll have) she’s in a cheerful mood just because she’s out with me. But then, we actually went inside the movie theatre and she became scared. To make the matters worse, the movie was 3-D. I guess it was too much of a sensory overload for her. In the middle of the movie, I took her out because I could tell that she wasn’t comfortable. She kept making, "ehh, ehh, ehh" sound and wasn’t sure how to express herself. I was so disappointed not being able to finish the movie. I felt like the girl in the beginning of the movie was like me….lots of freckles, messed up teeth, silly and adventurous. And the guy’s kind of shy, kind of awkward but really sweet and loving, like Andrew! 😉 Anyway, I’m dying to finish the movie when it comes out on Netflix. After we walked out of the movie, what else can we do but to shop! I had a great date with you, Chloe! 🙂

end of school party

There was a little party/get together with parents this morning at Chloe’s day care. Parents were busy taking pictures of the little ones singing and dancing and the kids were ecstatic that we were there. They sang songs, played drums and danced. I learned that my Chloe can count 1 through 10 in Hebrew AND can sing songs in Hebrew as well. Who knew! She was described as a leader of the class by her teacher. She’s something, isn’t she?

andrew’s day

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Andrew’s been working long hours, and I have not seen him this whole week. Even though he was tired and sleep deprived, he had his guy friends over last night until 3 a.m. That said, I let him sleep in this morning until 10 a.m, followed by an afternoon nap. That’s some serious luxury gift. On top of that, I got him a digital camcorder AND he grilled burgers for his whole family, his choice of food. So to recap his father’s day, he hung out with his buddies polishing off 3 bottles of whiskey, slept in late with a hangover, took a nap, got a toy, and ate home grilled burgers. What more does a man want?

Guess why Ms. Chloe’s crying. They were watching a Disney channel movie and apparently there was an emotional scene in the movie and she started to cry… We couldn’t believe how sensitive and emotional she can get…over a drama…definitely my daughter. ha!

living room update

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

We moved into this home while I was pregnant with Chloe. After two babies and two nursery rooms later, I’m finally getting around to decorating the living room. It’s still a toy land for kids, everything being pushed aside to to the corners, but I figure I can start from top to down slowly. I cannot wait to buy real furniture some day… Next up is our kitchen!

We went to Amy & Austin’s house to celebrate Naomi’s 1st birthday today. What a gorgeous house they have! They did a great job decorating for the party as wellAnd, little Naomi’s just so delicious!! We had a great time enjoying the great company and food. When it was time for us to go, Chloe wanted to stay longer (…I did too!). We look forward to celebrating many more occasions with the Wei family!

As soon as I saw this post about the Storm King Art Center, I’ve been dying to check it out. It was absolutely breathtaking… even better than I thought.

chloe as a big sister

Friday, June 12th, 2009

After I put Shane to bed, around 6:30 pm, it’s been just me and Chloe since I haven’t seen that man named Andrew before 10 pm for weeks! My daily routine is usually crazy busy juggling so many things by myself, but after Shane goes to bed I can relax a little bit and have quality time with my girl. If the weather’s nice, like this evening, Chloe and I like to enjoy our dinner in the backyard. She and I sat in the swinging chair eating, singing and telling the mosquitos to go away. It was a perfect evening with Chloe. I love that she is such a happy little person!

Sometimes I feel bad that we naturally demand more responsibilities from Chloe, just because she has a little brother. I am so proud of her that even at such an early age, she seems to know that she is an older sister and steps up to the plate. She is so smart and is aware of her surroundings that I often forget that she’s only 2 years old.
Just couple of days ago, she was having so much fun running around with her balloon that she didn’t realize Shane was following her. Then in a split of second when she turned around, she accidentally wrapped Shane with a ribbon hanging from the balloon and scared him. When I saw it I grabbed Shane immediately from the floor and raised my voice at Chloe saying she was scaring the baby. Chloe looked at me with her two puppy eyes and said,"mommy, I was scared too…" and started to tear up putting her hands to her chest.

I was so shocked at her comment that it made me realize how unfair I was being toward Chloe. I hugged her tight and told her it wasn’t her fault and that I was sorry. She started to cry in my arms. It was almost as if she was pleading with me to tell me that she’s just a baby too… My heart broke.
