trick or treating in the dark

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Most of our neighbors are still without power. It was completely dark when we went trick or treating. We had to drive around blocked roads, downed wires and fallen trees and when we finally got to our favorite block, it felt like a real ghost town. People had abandoned their homes, leaving their freakish decorations in the yards…

We ended up coming home empty handed so we  just went to our next door neighbor and luckily kids scored a handful of candies.

silly us

I brought Chloe to work with me this morning and as you can see, we got a lot of work done! 😉

Kids school was closed today due to power outrage and by 8 am., they were already running around in circles. So I figured it would be easier for my parents just watch Shane alone at home while I take Chloe to work.

Chloe did so great at work! She did about 5 booklets of Kumon and was so quiet and calm that no one could tell she was there.

A few of my coworks came by to say hi and gave her candy.

We shared my lunch then I drove her home at 1pm.

meeting new friends

We spent the afternoon in Hoboken with our friends visiting from out of town.

snow on halloween weekend

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

We had planned on going to Sesame place today but because of unexpected snow storm, we had to cancel our trip.

A few branches including our backyard tree fell on our deck, destroying our patio glass table…

When Chloe saw that our tree was broken, she cried… Oh my sweet Chloe.

I purchase this bottle of wine from Napa Valley right after we got engaged, with an intention of opening it for our 10th anniversary. We finally opened it today!

exploring the romantic city

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

We bought a beautiful photograph from a local artist.

We also walked through the Parc Mount Royal in the city for a scenic walk.

This was one of the most memorable trips we took as a couple. We realized how much we needed this. It’s been a while since it was just us twos and it really gave us chance to take a breath and review our relationship and talk (more importantly, listen) to each other.

I’m looking forward to many more trips like this…

Thank you so so so much to our wonderful friends, R & D who offered to babysit the kids so  we could take this trip. We had no doubts that the kids were in good hands… Your friendship means the world to us.

old montréal

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

After this delicious brunch at a cute cafe nearby our hotel, we spent all day walking around the Old Montréal and downtown. This city is so charming and beautiful and people are very friendly here.

Visited a Christmas store.

Romantic dinner at DNA.

Duck with juniper berries. I never had a raw duck before. It was quite tasty.
