Our room was finally ready at 3pm so we came back to our hotel, organized our belongings, and freshened up to get ready to go to a dinner. We have amazing views from our three terraces and couldn’t miss the opportunity to do a little photoshoot before heading out again!
When we got to our hotel, our suite was not ready so we set out to go have brunch @ Cafe Angelina first which was so delicious! It would’ve been nice to freshen up after the long flight before venturing out to the streets of Paris but oh well, too bad we couldn’t. I’m so thankful Chloe’s such an easy going traveller and she was game for anything! We finally felt so much better after much needed latte and putting delicious food in our stomach! As we were walking out, we saw a long line for the restaurant and realized we got so lucky and beat the crowd.
Chloe and I are taking a mother daughter trip to celebrate Chloe’s pre-16th birthday! We took a red eye last night and seven hours later, Voila~!! We are in Paris!!
At last, Shane’s feeling back to himself and we invited his friends over for some fun football theme food to celebrate his birthday. I made so much food, I also asked Chloe to invite her friends over for dinner as well. It was a tiring long day but seeing everyone enjoying the food and the company made everything worth it. So happy Shane is well! Thank you God for your love, grace and protection over Shane. May he love his God and seek his kingdom kingdom first above all else! Love you so much Shane. My sweet sweet boy! Happy 14th!!!!!
Today is Shane’s 14th birthday and he had a nice breakfast, and went to school as usual, joking around with me in the car and in good mood. But right before he was getting out, he said his fingers feel tingling and he has a tiny headache. Not thinking much about it, I dropped him off at school and I came home and was walking Miles when I got a call from the school nurse. She said Shane is vomiting and is really really sick!
I ran up the hill to our house with Miles and drove straight to school and when I saw him, my heart sank. He was not the same kid I dropped off this morning. He could barely open his eyes and could barely walk/stand. When I half carried him to the car, he couldn’t open the car door and just sank down to the ground, crying, saying his head hurts so much. He vomited more before and after the car ride to the doctor’s office. His doctor examined and said he has a migraine! I’ve heard of friends who had these kind of episodes before but I never witnessed one in person, let alone happening with my child. Let me tell you, it was a scary thing to witness! I thought he perhaps got hurt in his head at school or something!
So he spent the rest of the day, sleeping in his room in complete darkness. After 3 rounds of advil and sleeping, I asked him what he can eat and he said he couldn’t eat anything. Not even his birthday cake. I asked him if he would like Krispy Kreme donuts and he said yes. So I sprang up and drove 40 min to get him a dozen donuts.
By about 8 pm, he was able to sit up in his bed and able to smile to the camera! He was only able to take one small bite of a donut but it was worth it. I’m just so thankful he was recovering and smiling again. Oh what a birthday Shane.
Wife, Mother, jewelry designer & graphic designer /Creative Director, I am HaeWon Cadence Ryu. This is a glimpse into my life’s blessings, passion and inspiration.
This blog came to fruition after I began motherhood; I wanted to be able to capture every millestone of my two beautiful children - Chloe & Shane as they journey through their early years. Since the launch of my online jewelry site, cadencelee.com, I’ve come face-to-face with having to juggle multiple roles. As a result, I have decided to feature some of my designs and inspiration alongside postings of my precious family. For me, this is the perfect medium of work-life balance.
