my college town – providence

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Passing through Boston

We stopped by Providence where I went to college many years ago. Ahhh, the good ole memories…

We played at Brown Campus

I absolutely loved going to RISD. I came to this auditorium almost every Saturday morning to listen to special lectures.

Providence has many great restaurants and while I was here, I discovered and fell in love with Cambodian food. Unfortunately one of my favorite restaurant has closed down so I searched for the next best thing. We found this place and they had my very favorite Naem Chao! Ohhhh, I’m savoring ever bite… It was so good and exactly as I remembered… It was so good that I forgot to take pictures of other dishes we had.

last day in maine { day 4 }

Wednesday, June 27th, 2012

Another cloudy day but we enjoyed the morning walk.

This is a funny angle shot. Looks like Chloe’s about to kick Shane’s butt. 🙂

We came back to the Lobster shack for lunch before we set off to our next destination, Newport Rhode Island.

Enjoying a Clam Burger.

Lobster Stew

Lobster Roll

Chloe’s so sweet to Shane. When she’s not smacking him in the head/face (don’t worry, it only happened a few times) she mostly wants to take care of him. She’s a very loving older sister.

Famous Whoopi pie. I had to try one.

Raspberry pie

See what I mean?

Goodbye Maine! We really enjoyed you and will visit again soon!

Time for a yummy dinner!

My dinner: Sauvignon Blanc with raw Maine Oysters ♥

Lobster Primavera

Shrimp Scampi

Shane LOVES spaghetti! Actually he loves anything in forms of noodle.

Andrew picked out this outfit for Shane at the outlet this afternoon. I think it was Andrew’s first time picking clothes for kids and he really enjoyed it.  So much so that he announced that he will dress Shane from now on. Like a real boy!, he said.

Then, ice cream for dessert to end the night on a sweet note.

One for me too! This is a perfect size for me. Salted caramel.

rainy day = shopping day {day 3}

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

Kids have a separate room upstairs which works out perfect for everyone.

We had planned on going sailing this morning, but woke up to a rainy day. So the next best thing? Going to the outlet!

On the way to Freeport, we explored through little streets and bridges and came across these beautiful views along the way.

Then it’s time for lunch

New England Clam Chowder

Lobster Melt

Fish Sandwich

I’m loving all these seafood we’ve been eating.

Came back to our cottage just in time for a nap.

Shane’s already out.

visiting portland {day 2}

Monday, June 25th, 2012

This morning, we walked around downtown Portland, Maine. What a cute town it is. We visited little artsy shops, cute clothing shops, whimsical toy stores, and great restaurants.

Dinner back at our resort, Sea glass.

Herb Grilled Kettle Cove Lobster

Gulf of Maine Seafood & Lobster Paella

Pan Roasted Jumbo Scallops

We bought ukulele for Shane today because he wants become a rock star.

We spent the rest of the evening enjoying live performance by an acoustic guitar player in the lawn. Towards the end of his performance, he played my few requests by Frank Sinatra. What a perfect summer night…

cape elizabeth {day 1}

Monday, June 25th, 2012

We arrived at the resort around 9 pm.

After we put the kids to bed, we got to enjoy some relaxing time.

I woke up very early because I couldn’t wait to see the outside.

So quiet and peaceful… I think the best way to wake up in the morning is with the sound of ocean waves.

Ms. Chloe also woke up nice and early to enjoy the view.

Mr. Shane’s still sleeping.

We picked up some groceries on the way here yesterday. This is the best raspberry jam I ever had! I loved how all the fruit and veggies are so fresh at the market.

Healthy breakfast

Now we’re ready to go out!

Shane’s monkey

We’re all waiting for Mr. daddy to wake up so we can go to the beach…

on the way to maine

Sunday, June 24th, 2012

We passed through Vermont and discovered a beautiful scenic trail under this overhead bridge. After a few hours of driving, we enjoyed this unexpected break. We walked down the trail which lead to a winding river that ran through the beautiful countryside of Vermont.

Waving fern leaves.

After the walk, we stopped at the local ice cream shop for some homemade ice cream.

indulging on fresh Vermont blueberry ice cream,

On the road again for 3 more hours.

Arriving in Cape Elizabeth, Maine

We’re here!
