shane’s first salon experience

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Shane was in desperate need of some professional haircut. So after lunch we bribed him with ice cream and convinced him that going to a hair salon will be such a fun experience.

I spend more than half an hour negotiating with him (and threatening him a little) to just sit in the seat.

Right after this shot, he tried climb out of the chair and screamed bloody murder. He only got his half of hair cut so I ended up trimming his hair again when we got home. Oh well…not bad for the first time.

grilled clams

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

My sister-in-law and I came out for some late night snacks after the kids went to bed.

Fireworks by the beach afterwards… It was a perfect date.^^

clam digging in the afternoon

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

This afternoon we are going clam digging at low tie which occurs around 3pm. At low tide, a playground about 300 meters long opens along the sea wall.

We weren’t very successful with finding clams but we had tons of fun walking on the mud, and just digging around for anything we can find under pebbles and rocks.

i love eating

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

To save trouble of going out for every meal, my mom and my sister-in-law brought homemade side dishes from home. Yum~

We made grilled pork and kimchi chigae for dinner at the resort condo we’re staying at. This can happen only in Korea!!

road trip to the west coast

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Today we’re heading to the Daecheon Beach, located in Chungcheongnam-do province, which is considered to be the best beach on the west coast. It’s also my mom’s hometown.

Rest stops in Korea have variety of noodle dishes. This was one of my favorite memories of road trips in Korea when I was a kid.

a carefree evening

Friday, August 19th, 2011

About 5 min. from my parents place is this park/strip mall where kids can run around the fountain and play with neighborhood kids. There’s also quite of few boutiques and good eateries as well. It’s so easy to walk out here with kids to have late night snacks and watch the kids play. This is what I missed the most about Korea… being so carefree and just being with my family. I’m home…
