mini trip to D.C. – day three

Monday, February 16th, 2009

We went sightseeing by car because the weather was too cold and the kids were too tired but we ate very well. We went to Carlyle’s for brunch then to a very famous Peking House for dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious. 🙂 So to sum-up our trip, it was:

lots of food, lots of driving, great time with friends & family and no sleep .

Thank you Jenn & Rich for your warm hospitality! Chloe’s already said she was going to emo’s twice this morning!

mini trip to D.C. day two

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

Jenn and Rich graciously welcomed us to their home. Jenn even baked muffins and blueberry bread for us! We stayed in and ordered in dinner, spending a cozy afternoon with friends. Within two hours of our stay, Chloe was already so attached to Jenn, calling her Emo(aunt) and following her around. Chloe even charmed them by singing ‘twinkle twinkle little star’. We also got to hang out with my cousin Tony which was  also great.

mini trip to D.C.- day one

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

We thought it would be a great idea to take the kids to Washington D.C. over the long weekend. It started out with excitement… until our first night, which we realized that it wasn’t a smart idea to put a 4 month old and a 2 year old in the same hotel room, given we arrived there at midnight. Chloe was wide awake until 2 a.m. excited that she was sleeping in the big bed with us and Shane was not feeling the new crib at all. Andrew and I took turns holding him all night. Nobody got enough sleep that night  and we were all up by 6 a.m. Sleeping in late never happens with my kids. I called the front desk to ask for a suite for the next night but nothing was available. That’s when we packed up and went to my lovely friends, Jenn & Rich.

In the picture, Chloe’s having strawberries and kiwis for breakfast, which she then told me she forgot to pray after taking her first bite . So, she stopped eating and prayed all by herself… for a long time!

We have been featured here. We had the pleasure of knowing Bentley Waters when we hired her to photograph Chloe’s first birthday in 2007. She’s a very lovely and talented person and we definitely want her back to shoot Shane’s first birthday for sure! Thank you for mentioning my website. We look forward to seeing you soon!

day at the aquarium

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

We went to the New York Aquarium in Coney Island this afternoon. Even though the weather was supposed to be in the 50s it was very windy and cold. Chloe had fun looking at different sea creatures while Shane slept in his cozy and warm stroller the whole time we were there.

happy tu ju day!

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

Today I turned 30 something…  Even though I begged my mom not to cook so much, she once again managed to cook beautiful meals for breakfast (Korean) and lunch (Italian). Then for dinner,  we ordered in from my favorite Korean Chinese restaurant, Chung Hwa Roo in Fort Lee.  What a day of feast!!

Chloe was so excited that it was somebody’s birthday today. She repeatedly said, "happy TU JU day!!"  all day.

making the transitions

Chloe adapts to changes so beautifully.

Before Shane was born, we planned to give him Chloe’s crib, so we bought a twin size bed for Chloe which has been sitting in her room since last November. As time got close to making that change, I got nervous. Shane’s too small for the co-sleeper now and Chloe seemed disinterested in the big bed. I wasn’t sure if it was too early to bump Chloe off her crib. What if she doesn’t like her new bed and climbs out of it to come to our room every night? Plus, I’ve talked to several moms about it and they all told me it’s too early and I should go buy another crib for Shane.

However my mom kept encouraging me to talk to Chloe and she really felt that Chloe is smart enough to understand it, so we started talking to her about making the switch. Also, for couple of days in the past week, I laid down with her in her new bed each night. Then it happened! Last night when I put her in her crib to sleep her, she started throwing a fit. I couldn’t understand why she was so upset. Then she said, "oh, this one! oh, this one!" pointing at the new bed and said, "this is baby’s!"  pointing at the crib. So I gladly put her in the big bed and she slept through the night by herself without making a peep!

She woke up so happy and proud! Oh my beautiful girl…

little spiderman

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Andrew gave Shane a nick name. We call him ‘little spiderman’ because he wants to be held all the time as he clings on. He’s always attached from one person to the other. Although he’s a fairly easy and happy baby, he does demand a lot of handling, which I don’t mind… even if it’s at 2 a.m. 3 a.m. 4 a.m. and again at 5 a.m.! I mean, how can I resist this face??
