sunday brunch – homemade

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Shane had avocado as his first food for lunch, just like it was Chloe’s first food.

Oh, the beginning of many many pureeing and freezing cubes…. Here we go again!

I love this expression! He’s looks unsure and confused… 🙂

 and here’s our lunch:

Recipe from Whimsy & Spice blog,  my daily obsession. I love their inspiring stories about their business and the family, not to mention the amazing photographs! I have been their fan since Daily Candy featured their website last year.  Thanks for the delicious tips!

Shane’s baptism

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Shane HaYoung Ryu, son of Andrew and HaeWon Ryu was baptized by Pastor Peter Wang at Grace Redeemer Church. We have been members of this church for about 5 years and Chloe was also baptized by the same pastor.

Baptismal Vows:

Pastor: Do you acknowledge your child’s need of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, and the renewing grace of the Holy Spirit?

Andrew & HaeWon: We do.

Pastor: Do you claim God’s covenant promises in his behalf, and do you look in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation, as you do for your own?

Andrew & HaeWon: We do.

Pastor: Do you know unreservedly dedicate your child to God, and promise, in humble reliance upon divine grace, that you will endeavor to set before him a godly example, that you will pray with and for him, that you will teach him the doctrines of our holy religion, and that you will strive, by all means of God’s appointment, to bring him up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord?

Andrew & HaeWon: We do.

Baptismal Question to the congregation:

PastorDo you as a congregation undertake the responsibility of assisting these parents in the Christina nurture of their child?

Congregation: We do.

After we came home, we took more pictures since we were all dressed up nicely.

Chloe gives a kiss to her brother Shane, congratulating him!

weekend is here!

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

Shane’s one active baby. He does not sit still but crawls everywhere and pulls himself up from anything he can grab on to. Giving bath became a serious slippery business.

After stopping by the Toy’s R us store to buy Chloe’s first bicycle, we went to our local park and played until dinner time. Her bicycle is going to be assembled and ready to be picked up on Wednesday night. We got the matching helmet and everything. We are all super excited!!

picnic food

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Chloe’s such a good and appreciative eater that I absolutely love cooking for her. I pack her lunch for daycare and this morning, I made mini California rolls. I remember how special these are to me because I remember when my parents used to make them for my school picnics. I hope Chloe gets the same sentimental memory.

visiting friends

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

We went to visit our good friends in Woodside today. It’s been a while since we got to spend time with their kids, Rilee and Jalen,  so it was really nice to be able to see them interact with each other. There were occasional cries, shrieking, and shouting of "MINE!" games but overall, I think the kids did okay. There was a couple with no kids yet and I think by the end of our visit when it was close to all the kid’s bed time, they were convinced that they should await little bit more to have their first.

gifts

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

A package from June & Jae arrived this morning. Chloe was super excited and opened all of them yelling, "presents! presents!"  Can you tell how much she loved the sweater dress?

Thank you so much aunt June and uncle Jae for this, very thoughtful, very special, very very nice gifts!! We miss you and hope to see you guys soon!

trip to history

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

We visited the American Museum of Natural History today and met up with my dearest friend Sarah We’ve been trying to see each other since last November and I was so happy to finally see her today. It’s getting harder and harder to see friends now that I’m a mom of TWO kids (which I still can’t believe… ha!) Anyway, this is where Andrew and I had our first date back in 2000, so it was nice to come back after nine years with our two beautiful kids. It was a sweet visit to OUR history.

first solid food

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

My boy Shane had his very first solid food this morning! It’s always a delight and true joy to see them experience things for the first time. He wasn’t sure what he was doing and I kept flashing my camera lights which confused him even more… Sorry but I had to capture this precious moment. I had a spoon in my left hand, camera in my right, bowl of rice cereal on my lap and Chloe monkey on my back. Talking about multi-tasking!
